We are an all volunteer non-profit, 501(c)(3) animal rescue. Our goal is to relieve overcrowded animal shelters through rescue thereby reducing euthanasia.
We rescue cats, dogs, bunnies and other animals from animal shelters and place them into temporary foster homes until permanent homes can be found.
ASR relies on donations to rescue animals and pay for all of their care, including: food and medical expenses such as Spay/Neuter and vaccines.

CAN YOU HELP THESE KITTIES???
One of our wonderful, special volunteers at the Santa Cruz Shelter, Denise Fischer, recently had a massive stroke and sadly, three days later, died. We are desperately trying to re-home her precious kitties so they do not have to go to the shelter because they would just be lost there and it would have broken her heart. Her husband is allergic and would like to travel and not have to worry about the care of the cats.
Piggy is a beautiful Maine Coon that was left in their old neighborhood when his owners moved. He was living in the new neighbor’s yard and apparently eating whatever bird he could snag. At first, he was shy and wouldn’t come when called, but once he got used to them, the house and the assurance of regular meals, he made himself at home and now he’s a confirmed indoor house cat. The vet thinks he is somewhere around 11 or 12 years old. His coat was tangled, so he recently had a hair trim. He is very affectionate, likes to sleep next to people and also likes a warm lap just to be close. Piggy is a healthy, happy cat!
Bete Noir (black beast) is a beautiful, soft black female about 7 years old who they got from the shelter as a kitten for company to one of their other cats. That cat died but she has established a bonding relationship with sweet Piggy. They like to spar/play each morning before breakfast and mostly nap in the same area but don’t sleep next to each other. Bete can be quite affectionate, but like so many kitties, on her terms. When she comes, she’ll purr melodically and be very enamored with you, but if you try to grab her, she’ll keep just out of reach.

Latte is a 5-month old, caramel tabby kitten, who flabbergasted our veterinarian. When he examined her, he couldn't feel any organs in the places that they should be!
